I first learned about
Give-Me-Five from a workshop in 1999. I fell in love with it immediately. Since
then, Really Good Stuff has created classroom posters with different variations
of the teacher management tool. I have used it with elementary, as well as,
high school kids. The little ones raised their “fives” and followed the numbers
with their finger, repeating the steps after me until they learned it. Kind of
like Whole Brain Teaching tactics. For high-schoolers, I had them give me a
“high five” in the air and grunt to show they were paying attention. Kind of
like a marine ooh-aah!
